New Balance has been a part of my life since my childhood. They were my first pair of running shoes and my dad made me wear them, even though I wanted Nike. I later on began to grow and appreciate what New Balance had to offer. They offer quality, durability and comfort; everything you want in a great running shoe. We just looked at the Freshjive 2011 Spring Lookbook and now we have all the pieces of the new collection. As we saw from the lookbook, there are lots of tees and tank in some pretty bold prints. Freshjive 2011 Spring Lookbook
Out of all the lookbook’s I have posted, I am more excited about this one. I rediscovered Freshjive last year and it quickly became one of my go to brands. All the usual suspects of Spring are in the collection; short, tanks and short sleeve button ups. The theme is River’s Edge, with a lot of photos in and around the Los Angeles reservoir. This collection is all about minimalism and creating a collection for those guys who are transition to wearing high end fashion pieces. Nike Air Royal Mid “Baroque”
My first experience, with the Air Royal Mid, was last year with the patent leather version. I was contemplating wearing them in my upcoming wedding. The Royal’s, this year, have been changed a little bit. Instead of having a perforated swoosh, they chose to use compression molding; creating a raised swoosh. They also swapped out the leather lining for a softer wool lining. Besides the technical jargon; this shoe is pre aged leather shoe; with all the crack and creases of aged leather. It looks like a shoe that has been handed down from generation to generation. This is just a great looking shoe. Nike Air Max Penny 2011 Retro Release
I’m glad to the Orlando Magic getting the respect they deserve. I have been a Magic fan since the team began. The best days, until now, were with Shaq and Penny. Penny was one of my favorite players and the guy captured a nation. Those days are over but, his shoes are still a part of sneaker culture. The 1/2 cent is a much loved shoe with sneakerheads; first the eggplant and then the cranberry. Now the Orlando Magic colorway is getting the retro treatment and I am excited. J. Crew x New Balance 1400
J. Crew is known for collaborating with a plethora of brands. I have experienced their collaboration with Levi’s and it was a smash hit. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about New Balance’s collab, because sometimes shoe collabs can go wrong. Not in this case. The newest crop of New Balance 1400’s have hit J. Crew and they are perfect for that store. The 1400 is a straight forward, no frills retro shoe; which goes great with Americana style. It’s not as bulky as the 574, but maintains that retro feel. They come in 5 colors; raw steel, pine green, navy, black and rustic orange. So far my favorite is the raw steel and black. What do you think of the J. Crew x New Balance collaboration? F.C. Real Bristol 2011 S/S Lookbook
What’s a good way to sell your clothing line? Tap into the football market and create a fake football club; by football I mean soccer, not American football. F.C. Real Bristol is the third Japanese brand to drop their 2011 S/S lookbook. F.C.R.B. is also part of SOPHNET, but they make more active clothes with help from Nike. The line is full of active polos and rugby style shirts, but it’s the workout clothes that really shine. Instead of hiring models to show off their line, F.C.R.B. uses mannequins. Another Japanese brand is releasing their 2011 Spring and Summer collection lookbook. uniform experiment’s is an off shoot of parent company SOPHNET. The line is their experimental take on different uniforms; school and navy uniforms. If definitely more fashion forward line the SOPHNET, but most of it is right in line with the current style. SOPHNET 2011 S/S Collection
Japanese brand SOPHNET released their 2011 Spring/Summer Collection this week. It’s a great collection, full of cartoon tees and a great take on classic Americana. I especially like their take on the cartoon series “The Peanuts.” This is exactly the look you should be going for this Spring and Summer; just laid back, not trying to hard but still not a bum. Ransom x adidas Originals Valley
For those of you wondering, “what shoes am I going to wear for Easter?” I have found the shoes for you. Ransom is a frequent adidas collaborator and they have collabed on the Valley Hi many times before this shoe. This shoe however is one of my favorite of all the Ransom collabs. Why is it my favorite? It’s simple yet, the colors they chose work really well with the all white body. They chose pastel orange and pastel green, and only put those colors on the sole of the shoe. adidas Originals Fortitude “Wood/Aerolime”
I recently posted pics of the “Fortitude” sneakerboot in dark onix and Extra Butter has the same shoes in brown; well they call the colorway wood and aerolime. I wouldn’t actually describe the color as wood because it’s a little more dark than most wood. It’s Trash Day adidas Originals Jeremy Scott Jumpsuit
It’s Friday, time to take out the trash. Jeremy Scott is known in the sneaker world for creating some of the most amazing shoes ever. Some say they might be outlandish and Scott makes shoes you can’t regularly wear. I defend that Jeremy Scott produces art disguised as footwear and that everything he makes is amazing. 2011 Kitsune Lookbook “Brokeback Mountain”
Kitsune is one of those brands that I am just discovering. Even though winter is wrapping up and spring is on the horizon; French brand Kitsune decided it was time to drop their 2011 Fall/Winter Lookbook. The collection is inspired by Ang Lee’s film “Brokeback Mountain.” Well mostly inspired by 60’s west American style; a lot of workwear, heavy coats, plaid and non treated denim. The denim is the best part; no gloss, no whiskering, just plain old fashion real man denim. This collection is incredible and I am really excited for 2011 winter. Obey 2011 Spring Lookbook
The 2011 Spring Obey Lookbook came out today and it’s going to be a great Spring. Not only are there great tees and tanks, but the shorts are killer. They have a few lightweight jackets but, it’s hard to wear a jacket in Florida in the Spring. I would say this is a solid Spring Lookbook for Obey and I can’t to see what’s in store for the summer. Having trouble finding a great tennis classic shoe? Well Vans has added one to their growing stable of shoes. The 31 CA, which looks surprising similar to the Nike tennis classic, has just popped up on the web. The shoes are available now in two colors; grey and black, but each shoe has tan leather on the toe and heel; with the tan leather, the grey color is far superior. Bring on the retro shoes. My favorite New Balance, the 574, is getting the hologram treatment. Well just on the tongue but it looks awesome. Spotlight: adidas Originals Blue Collection
This collection of adidas Originals clothing just popped up the internet and I was immediately excited. I wasn’t even going to spotlight this collection, but I just love it so much. From what I have read the fit in the clothes is a little more roomier then normal fashion these days, but that is wear fashion is headed. New Arrivals @ Diesel.com Spring/Summer 2011
Diesel has some new arrivals posted for S/S 2011 and so far the jeans are looking like the Diesel I used to love. The simple Diesel designs that made them a marquee high end brand. I chose to show 4 styles of denim; krooley, tepphar, thatvar and larkee. I am familiar with the larkee fit, which is a straight leg fit and the others are variations on skinny and slim fits. adidas Originals Decade B-Balls NBA Colors
If you are like me then you love your shoes, that support your favorite team, without team logos on the shoes. It’s not that I don’t love the team, but my tastes are just more simple. Which why these shoes peaked my interests. Three new shoes has popped up on Crooked Tongues with NBA team colors but no team logos on the shoes. The adidas Originals Decade B-Balls come in three colorways; Magic blue/black/white, Portland Maroon/Grey/Black and Knicks Orange/Blue/White. fragment design x Nike Zoom All Court
I am so glad to see so many simple shoes coming out this year. By simple, I mean one to two colors on the shoe. The upcoming collab between fragment design x Nike is actually what I am talking about. The shoes come in 4 different colors; red, green, and black with an all white canvas base. The shoes look absolutely amazing, but it’s going to be hard to keep these fresh, because they are mostly white canvas. Which means hard to clean and collects dirt; I have a pair of canvas sweets and they find dirt faster they other fabrics. I applaud fragment for just putting their logo on the tongue to keeping the shoe simple. Look for these in February at select retailers, expect a limited release. Diesel x adidas Originals Collection
This is a surprising collaboration. Only surprising because Diesel makes shoes. They don’t make great shoes, so it kind of makes sense. No matter what the reason, this is one awesome collab. Diesel chose to collab on 5 different shoe; 2 mid Forums, 2 Stan Smiths and a zx700. The shoes are being offered at Diesel Flagship stores worldwide. Diesel has added their signature rivets and is using some pretty bold color choices. My favorite so far is the zx700 in black and green and the Forum with the red strap. I am kind of surprised there was no denim covered sneakers; considering Diesel is known for denim. What do you think of the Diesel x adidas collaboration? More detailed pics after the break.
New Nike SB shoe box?
Shots have popped up on N-SB’s forum on what might be the new shoe box. Nothing has been confirmed and new SB’s are still shipping the regular blue box. I like this new style of box, has a real “street” feel, which is where most kids use SB's. What do you think of the possible new box? Do want the blue box to continue? Winter weather can be hard on your kicks and your soul. The main problem is you want to wear your favorite sneaks but you don’t want the crappy weather to ruin your shoes. More and more adidas originals are popping up these days. I think they are trying to show Nike that adidas is still a major player. When they drop shoes like the adi-Rise, I can definitely put my support behind them now. The colorway is Navy/Gold in a mid rise shoe, with some patent leather. Wednesday Rant Shape Up Shoes
America you’re getting fatter and instead of working out and eating right, we rely on a shoe to help us get trim. I understand that the shoe mimics balance ball technology, but why not just use a balance ball. Also, why in the world is Joe Montana endorsing these shoes? Vans Vault 106 MOC TH LX
2011 is the year of shoes. So many brands are releasing really innovative styles. The Vans Vault is releasing a moccasin style boat shoe for spring 2011. The Vault deals with limited edition styles using high end fabrics. The MOC TH LX comes in 2 different colorways black and mahogany and is a great combination of boat and moccasin. Nike Lunarmax+ Vortex
The Lunar Series is the newest Nike running sensation. I purchased the Lunarglides last year and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Now Nike has stepped up their game by adding an airbag to the lunar sole mix. The first colorway to pop up was the varsity purple and black, but it wasn’t until the dark grey and volt that I really got interested. Also these have been constructed with a hidden seam, part of Nike’s new design standards. I think I have found my newest running shoe. What do you think of the Lunarmax+ Vortex? Air Jordan 5 Premio “BIN 23”
The internet is buzzing right now about the new images of the Air Jordan 5 Premio “BIN 23.” The Premio is a Jordan 5 covered in black leather with silver accents; including a semi speckled sole. After the Jordon 5 Prime; the Jordan 5 is slowing becoming my second favorite Jordan behind the Jordan 1. Top 5 Skateboarding Shoes
Let’s just say I am no professional skateboarder. I have dabbled in the sport, back when boards were wider. I tried, 4 years ago, skateboarding again with a more modern board; quickly learning that skateboarding has gotten a whole lot more amazing. Which means I couldn’t compete. Now my only link to skateboarding is shoes and my old decks. You know my back story and how I have no expertise in skateboarding. Nike Air Vengeance Plus
I should have posted this weeks ago, as soon as these popped up on Nike.com. I was trying to figure out the next shoe to add to my arsenal. Let’s welcome the Nike Air Vengeance in Dark Grey/Varsity Purple-Black-Wolf Grey colorway. I know this shoe just arrived at 21 Mercer, but it has been at the Nike Store since the beginning of January. I having been eyeing this one for a while and now it’s time to pull the trigger. Bonus Post: Diversitile Nike Dunk Child’s Play
Florida based design company, Diversitile, has done it again. What did they do the first time? Remember the Nike Dunk “Freddy Kruger?” They first hit with the unreleased Kruger Dunk for a Nike Horror Pack that was never released. Diversitile is back in the horror game with the release of these Preview shots for the custom Nike Dunk “Child’s Play” shoe. The shoe is modeled after Chucky, the main protagonist of the “Child’s Play” series. They really pulled out all the stops when it came to customizing this shoe. The front of the shoe looks like the reconstructed head of Chucky from the “Bride of Chucky.” The mid and heel are modeled after Chucky’s good guys overalls. Also a little blood splatter mixed in. Nike SB Stefan Janoski Obsidian/Gum
A new Janoski colorway just dropped at 21 Mercer. The color is obsidian with a gum sole. The color is a dark blue, but not navy and it look amazing with the gum sole. The gum sole is slowly becoming my favorite color for the bottom of a shoe. Plus you know I love the Janoski, my favorite SB. What do you think of the new Janoski colorway? Bodega x Saucony Elite 2011 Spring Preview
Bodega has added a smorgasbord of new Saucony Elite’s to their store and webstore. The Saucony Elite was designed for small Japanese retailers made of the finest leather, suede and nylon. There are four new colorways of the Shadow 6000 and one the Jazz ‘91. These shoes look amazing. They simple colorways, but they look incredibly high class. Sneak Peak: 2011 Nike Air Max 2011
This is one of the most highly anticipated shoes of 2011. Last year’s redesign was an amazing looking shoe, but this year’s is looking epic. The Reebok Zig, New Balance Zip and now the K-Swiss Tube. What do they have in common, besides horrible names, they tried using gimmick technology and failed miserably. Nike Sportswear x Steven Alan
My first thought, when I saw these shoes was wow, what an awesome collaboration. My second thought was, who the heck is Steven Alan. I thought I knew all the main players in men’s fashion. I was blown away when I went to the website. The clothes were preppy, but not pretentious. Their collab with Nike is nothing short of amazing. They have collaborated on 4 shoes; the Magna, Lava, Talache Low and Zoom Toki. They are each different in their own special way. The Lava has a more running shoe feel, the Toki looks like a Chukka, the Magna is a hiking style shoe and the Talache Low is a more casual university style shoe. The G-Shock was the watch to have in the 90’s. You weren’t cool unless you had a G-Shock watch. Almost two decades later, nothing seems to have changed. With Nike releasing their all there new vintage running shoes and New Balance releasing all their retro running shoes; I don’t blame adidas for throwing their hat in the ring. The Questar is a great hat to be throwing into the ring. Most people would run when the hear the colors are red,yellow and blue, but they really work well with this shoe. adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott “Fire”
Packer Shoes has the Jeremy Scott “Fire” for sale. You just read about the “Teddy Bear” and these are the other new release the “Fire.” Again these are not for the faint of heart, but they would be a great conversation starter. They’re actually not as crazy as the “Teddy Bear,” but I would still pick the bear for the win. What do you think of the Jeremy Scott “Fire?” Would you wear these shoes? More pics after the break.
Nike SB Blazer Low Midnight Navy/Varsity Maize
Hey University of Michigan fans! Are you looking for a shoe to support your team? Well look no further Wolverine fans. The new Nike SB Blazer low now comes in Navy and Maize, just like your team colors. Just like my Air Max1 Skull Pack, which comes in Gator colors, are my go to shoe to wear on game day. More Jordan Technicolor Tees
Last week we saw the emergence of the Jordan Technicolor Tees. That was the Jordan 3, now two more shoes have gotten the Technicolor treatment. The Jordan 7 and the Jordan 13, pictured above. The 7 is printed on a white tee, but the 13 looks great with the black background. These are available now at Jordan Brand retailers. What do you all think of the Technicolor tees? I love the 574! I think it’s the best of the retro styled New Balance shoes. NB has just released a brand new colorway and it’s awesome. Who would have thought that Navy, Grey and White could look so good together? What do you all think of the new colorway? More pics after the break.
Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Tiffany Diamond” Black/Mint
Since they just redesigned the Janoski, I’ve decided to post my favorite Janoski. The Tiffany Diamond Black/Mint colorway. This shoe was released in August 2010 and people went crazy for them, including yours truly. Unlike the SB Dunk version, which is a lot more mint on the shoe. The Janoski flips the normal colorway will all black and a little mint, which looks amazing. What do you think of the Tiffany Janoski? More pics after the break.
