Top 5–New Balance Retros

New Balance has been a part of my life since my childhood.  They were my first pair of running shoes and my dad made me wear them, even though I wanted Nike. I later on began to grow and appreciate what New Balance had to offer.  They offer quality, durability and comfort; everything you want in a great running shoe. Check out the Top 5 and see if your favorite made the list, right after the break.

#5 – New Balance 1400

1400

The 1400 is great retro running shoe, but it’s just a little plain.  I know I like simple things, but there is a difference between simple and plain.  Things can be simple but still have style.  J.Crew even picked the 1400 as the collaboration shoe, so hopefully we will see more 1400’s on the horizon.

#4 – New Balance h710

h710

The New Balance equivalent to the sneakerboot.  The h710 is classified as a hiking shoe, but it’s became a sneakerhead’s must have now.  This happened with the extremely popular “Ivy League Collection.”  This collection opened the flood gates for special editions of this shoe.  I really excited to see the upcoming releases.

#3 – New Balance 576 and 577

576577

I posted both of these together because of the “Made in England” pack.  Both shoes got the treatment and both came out looking pretty similar.  Like all New Balance Retro shoes, they share similar designs with some tweaks.  I like both shoes equally and that is mostly why I posted them together.

#2 – New Balance 420

420

Most of New Balance retro shoes are a little bulky and round.  The 420 is  a must slimmer and sleeker model retro shoe.  If the 574 is the Air Max 1, then the 420 is the Air Max Light. The preverbal younger brother of the 574.  The 420 is a little different and that’s what makes it special.

#1 – New Balance 574

574

The 574 is the most known New Balance retro.  It is the go to New Balance for special colorways, collaboration and shoe packs.  I guess this would be the flagship retro for the New Balance brand.  It’s such an awesome sneaker that Nike drew inspiration for their MS78, both shoes look identical.  The 574 combines a sleek shoe with the roundness that has made New Balance the main retro shoe.

What do you think of the Top 5 New Balance Retro shoes?  Did your favorite shoe make the list?
