It’s Friday, time to take out the trash. I blame Reebok for this travesty. It seems like every shoes company is trying to find the latest running shoe fad. The Reebok Zig, New Balance Zip and now the K-Swiss Tube. What do they have in common, besides horrible names, they tried using gimmick technology and failed miserably. Let’s take a look at the travesty that is the K-Swiss Tube. More after the break.
I know K-Swiss from when I used to sport the all white shoes through out high school. Don’t fault me, they were really in style at the time. I thought K-Swiss fell through the cracks of shoe life and ended up at the discount shoe stores. Well apparently I was wrong. They are still making casual shoes and now have added a whole line of running shoes. The flagship of the running line is the K-Swiss Tube. It looks like K-Swiss took every gimmick shoe and mashed then all together. The bottom looks like an adidas Megaride, NB Zip and Zig had sex. The body looks like breathable mess, but a fake version that isn’t actually breathable. The signature five stripe design is trying to resemble Nike’s flywire. Even the colorway is very similar to the upcoming 2011 Air Max. Hey I get it, everyone is picking running shoes over casual shoe these days and with obesity in America climbing more people are turning to running. Just leave the running shoe making to the pros who have established their name in the running game.
The shoe itself does not look comfortable. The Tube design doesn’t even seem like it would work very well. It reminds me of the New Balance Zip, which I have tried on and I might as well have run shoeless. The shoe was so uncomfortable and had no cushion. The Tube is designed to work like a wave of cushion, but I don’t see this happening. What I do see happening is slight cushion when walking and no cushion while running. Most terrible running shoes all look really futuristic; with all kinds of gadgets, but all the gadgets in the world can’t help a crappy shoe. Don’t just take my word for it; go try these on and prove me wrong. What do you think of the K-Swiss Tube? Would you purchase these as running shoes?
