Top 5 Denim Brands

Top 5 Denim Brands

#5 RVCA

RVCA already makes amazing tops, but the jeans are just a amazing. I have to admit I haven't tried all the the fits on yet, but the pair I did try on fit it was amazing. They had great stretch and were raw denim. They didn't have any back pocket stitching and I am a sucker for pocket stitching. RVCA does have great looking twill pant and cord selection, but there is no originality or anything to distinguish from other denim brands. The price is the low to mid around $60 to $80 and can be found at most Pac Sun stores. I love RVCA's t-shrits and jackets, I just feel their denim is lacking passion or that little extra.

#4 Diesel Jeans

Some people on the internet may argue that Diesel Jeans are the best around; I could almost agree with that statement. If you had asked me 4 years ago I would have put these at #1, but lately the washes have gotten more outlandish looking. Diesel offers a huge variety of jeans in many unique washes, everything from skinny jeans to loose fit. I used to own only Diesel jeans, back when bootcut was popular and I have to credit Diesel for introducing me to skinny jeans. My favorite fit was the Diesel Timmen; it was a awesome slim fit and they had a great was that looked like it was shot with a gun. After a while the fit started to change, prices got higher and the back pocket stitching went from unique and amazing to just plain lame. I was even a member of a popular denim forum and could wax intellectual, about denim, with the best of denimologists. I realized I didn't like the people commenting of my collection and nothing was ever good enough, bu that's not why I stopped wearing these jeans. The fit was a super low rise and most of the jeans wear super tight on the legs, especially if you workout. Plus I just couldn't afford to keep up the ever expensive high fashion jeans lifestyle. I still catch myself checking eBay for vintage models and once in while I pop into the old forum, which has changed, to see what styles are the most popular and to laugh at all the shit talkers. I recommend these jeans for any has no problem dropping $200 dollars a pair and wants to be on the cutting edge denim trends.

#3 Nudie Jeans

Nudie jeans are the scientific man's jeans. They are jeans you buy as raw denim, wear for 6 months and become personally broken in by wearing them without washing. The are like a fashion science experiment and you play the scientist. Nudie jeans, like Diesel, come in a large variety and the washes range from raw denim to regular light washes. The price is mid range, $100-$200 depending on the wash and fit. The draw back to Nudies is each individual jeans fits differently, so they are hard to buy online. I am lucky enough to have a retailer who sells these locally and unless you have tried on every different fit; I wouldn't recommend buying online. My personal favorite fit is the Slim Jim, of course a slim jean, in organic denim. I have also tried the Average Joe but the pair I tried on was a super heavy and thick, not my personal favorite. I prefer supersoft and light. This brand doesn't have quite the large amount of fit and washing that diesel does; it does however have some simple amazing looking jeans. Nudie jeans are definitley worth it if you have no problem not washing your jeans for 6 months. Enjoy you scientific jeans Mr. Wizard.

#2 WeSC

I was introduced to WeSC a year ago and it has rapidly become one of my favorite brands. They t-shirts are unique and amazing, there outerwear is some of the finest and the jeans getting better and better. The purchased my first pair on the recommendation of a co-worker and I even wore them when I proposed to my finance. They are elegant looking and the organic jeans are supersoft and lightweight. The only draw back is they fit variety is a little sparse, with only 4 fits to date; skinny, slim, and two straight fits. It's the washes that separate this brand from most jeans. I already did three posts on these jeans, if you want more information check em out they are very detailed blogs.

#1 Levi's

If you know me or even have seen me on the street you know I love my Levi's and won't be seen without them on. I started wearing them last year and they keep evolving each month. I started with the 511 fit and have tried on 510, 514, 501 and other fits. Their new low rise skinny 591 is such an amazing fit with a skinny top and skinnest bottom. The 511 is your standard skinny and comes in a super large variety of washes; all shades of blue, gray and black. I would even say it has the largest amount of washes for each fit. Plus the price is just right; low to mid range $40 to $80 dollars depending on wash. They even carry a premium line with fits that seem to be the in between fits of the regular line. Levi's are also sold almost everywhere; this is good and bad at the same time. You have access to these jeans anywhere you go, but most of them washes are simple and just plain ugly. I would find your size and go online to find the best of the best washes. Also Levi's does tons of collabs with all sorts of brands, some of these you can't even find in the U.S. Why wouldn't this be one of the best brands; they have been perfecting the brand since the 1800's. My favorite pair of Levi's I have is the 511 Zipper Rigid Villain, a super dark pair with thick back pocket stitching and zipper on the back pockets. Levis is the quintessential American denim brand and this year is my #1 brand. Who knows next year there probably will be new number one and Levi's won't even crack the top five. I guess that's just my A.D.D. or my search for the next best denim brand.
