The shoe that got away. I saw this shoe in a GQ photo shoot; I know what your saying "GQ," but I was more surprised to see white Sambas. So what did I do next, I found these online and bought the shoes. They arrived and I was in sneaker heaven. I put these in the usual shoe rotation and starting wearing them a lot. Then one day I just stopped wearing them and they sat in the closet, never to be worn again. Then I committed a horrible sneaker crime, I sold the shoes. I have always regretted selling them and I have even have thoughts of buying them again. Enough about my craziness. The shoes are great; the Sambas were originally used as indoor soccer shoes, but they became a classic shoe. The Sambas are more familiar in the all black color, but I really love the all white with black stripes. The Sambas are as popular as the shell toes, but a little more comfortable, primarily because the were made to be used in sports. If you attended any metal or rock concert the last 20 years I can guarantee you saw someone wearing these shoes. The 90's were the pinnacle of the Samba wearing alternative kid and now they have creeped into the fashion world. Because of the sleek look and low profile you should wear these with skinny to skinniest jeans. Slim jeans would probably be a little to wide and straight would not look good. Doing this blog has reminded me how much I love Adidas, I might have to add some Germany flavor to my sneaker collection.
