Here’s where sports active wear meets high fashion. adidas Originals is once again collaborating with James Bond and David Beckham for 2011. This collection is all about minimalism and creating a collection for those guys who are transition to wearing high end fashion pieces. I should have posted this weeks ago, as soon as these popped up on Nike.com. I was trying to figure out the next shoe to add to my arsenal. Let’s welcome the Nike Air Vengeance in Dark Grey/Varsity Purple-Black-Wolf Grey colorway. I know this shoe just arrived at 21 Mercer, but it has been at the Nike Store since the beginning of January. I having been eyeing this one for a while and now it’s time to pull the trigger. Jeremy Scott what can’t you do. We have seen the “Wings.” We have seen the “Teddy.” We have seen the “Fire.” Now let me introduce the “Panda.” Jeremy Scott’s latest sneaker hybrid. Last week we saw the emergence of the Jordan Technicolor Tees. That was the Jordan 3, now two more shoes have gotten the Technicolor treatment. The Jordan 7 and the Jordan 13, pictured above. The 7 is printed on a white tee, but the 13 looks great with the black background. These are available now at Jordan Brand retailers. What do you all think of the Technicolor tees? Have you ever wanted to wear the snuggle bear on your feet? If you answered yes the previous question, then adidas has the shoe for you. Jeremy Scott has down it again. He’s taken an ordinary shoe and added everyone’s favorite stuffed animal. These sneakers aren't for the faint of heart and you have to be the most confident person in the world to wear these on the regular. I would however absolutely display these in my future office. I love when designers take shoes and turn them into art. These first came out as a pink teddy bear but, I love the brown colorway so much better. What do you think of the Teddy Bear? Here’s another one. I just posted a few pics on the adidas storm trooper and while researching those sneaks I can across the adidas Attitude “Jabba the Hut.” A green and brown tribute to the grossest Star Wars character of all time. These are a little more toned down then most of the Star Wars collabs I have been seeing. I really like the colors on the shoes, it looks like the just released Nike SB Dunk “Statue of Liberty.” They have the same green and brown mix and it works very well. adidas has been releasing Star Wars themed shoes lately. This one is the Storm Trooper themed El Dorado. I am unfamiliar with the fit of the El Dorado, but it looks a little like the Metro XXL, but with a smaller tongue. I have to say I love the packaging , just like the toys I used to get as a kid. These shoes are perfect for anyone who is a huge Star Wars fan or even someone who loves unique sneakers. These are available right now at Caliroots. More pics after the break.
Intel has teamed up with Adidas to showcase the future of shoe buying. The virtual display is used to enhance the buying process, by using a touch screen to bring up information on the shoes. The images will be in 3D and you can zoom in, turn the shoes 360 degrees and get the specs of the shoes. The concept is to put the displays into stores with limited spaces; you will be able to fit about 8,000 shoes in a space no bigger than a pantry closet.
This is one step closer to my “Virtual Store” idea. My idea consists of taking an average size store and instead of filling the front with actual product, you have interactive touch screens that display the items you sell. You can have multiple screens and display them in different shops of your store. The customer will pick each item and can drop them into either the fitting room folder or send them right to the register. Here’s where the human element comes into play. One of the employees working will go into the stock room and retrieve the items you selected, place them into the fitting room or bring them to the register. You can see the items from 360 view in 3D and a virtual photo where you can place items on your picture to see how an outfit would look. This store will cut out theft by having zero clothing items on the floor, leaving customers to only touch the clothes in the fitting room or after they have purchased the items. Eventually, if and when holograms become an everyday part of life, people will be able to try on hologram versions of clothing. Intel’s display is the first step to making the store a possibility.
Well these are actually shants or short pants, thank you Eryn. Even though most places are still being pelted with lots and lots of snow. The retail world is starting to push out their Spring line and that means shorts. I am not a big fan of short; I would much prefer to wear jeans all year round. If I do wear shorts, I wear cutoffs. Either denim or regular pants cut into shorts, with a little roll. These Levi’s 511 are right in my wheelhouse. They are super dark denim with a nice thick leg roll. The shorts are 99% cotton with 1% stretch for a great fit. These just popped up on Pac Sun’s website for around $49.50.
More and more clothing companies are using organic materials and reducing waste in their factories. Levi’s has been doing it for a while and now they have added a bevy of water<less styles and fits. According to the page, Levi’s uses 42 liters of water to dye their jeans and we as people use 21 liters every time we wash our jeans. This line of jeans can reduce the water usage, to make the jeans, from 28% to 96% depending on the style. The water<less line comes in almost every fit, from 510 to the premium jeans. You can find these specific jeans on the Levi’s website, you just have to look for the stop sign with a hand inside, that’s the water<less symbol. I think it great Levi’s is making an effort to save water and help the environment. I chose 3 styles, 2 are 511 and 1 is a slouch fit called the Calder. I love the fact that the jeans don’t look any different then the regular jeans.
2011 seems like the year of amazing releases. The Nike Air Max1 ACG is no exception. I love everything ACG and of course the Nike Air Max 1 is my favorite retro running shoe. So when you combine the two, you get an amazing result. The dark shadow/varsity purple, multi colored creation. This shoe is really impressive and has that patent ACG look; the look of colors that shouldn’t work together, but somehow work perfectly. This is must have for all those that love the Air Max 1 and ACG. I have these on my 2011 list of shoes to pick up. Words can’t help, so just check out the pics. February 14th is almost upon us and what better way to celebrate your love, for your girl or guy, with a pair chocolate cover strawberry shoes. That’s right “chocolate covered strawberry shoes.” Reebok has released a pair of Freestyle’s that look like the famous lover’s dessert. The shoe is all leather with the majority of the shoe in red with yellow seed accents. The toe is chocolate brown and looks dipped. The inside is green to represent the steam. The shoe looks just like a chocolate covered strawberry and the colors are perfect. The shoe however is a little out there for my tastes and seems like more of a novelty, then a regular wear. If you’ve got the money and want to spice up your night, try these shoes.
These are brands that people don’t always think of as “go to brands.” These are not the mainstream denim brands and they are not the most popular either. They are all great brands, but they just don’t get the respect they deserve. They are either new brands or brands that are established but are not known for making denim. There is no price limit, but the jeans have to be amazing to make the list.
#5 – Orisue
I first heard of Orisue when they got into some trouble about a tee they made using Howard Stern’s likeness, with out his permission. I have that shirt and it is a beauty. Recently I have been seeing their jeans pop up on a few websites. The jeans have great color contrasts and the light tan leather patches really works well with the darker pairs. I haven’t experienced these in person, but I am looking forward to trying them on.
#4 – RVCA
RVCA jeans really started becoming great when they started their Leo Romero collaboration. The Romero jeans started with dark blue stretch and a faded grey/black pair. The dark blue pair looked just like your basic Nudie jean, but with some really nice stretch. This year the line has blown up and they started to release twill pants, cords and a lot more denim. RVCA is mainly known for their awesome tees, but they should be known for their denim.
#3 – Bullhead
Everyone knows Pac Sun’s denim brand Bullhead, but this brand doesn’t get the respect it deserves. The brand used to be just a bunch of denim in the back of the store that no one paid much attention too. The brand has gone from basic to down right amazing. They cover the denim spectrum like no other brand. From the skinniest jean to straight leg and everywhere in between. This year they have upgraded the hardware and added twill pants in every color of the rainbow to their line. Their biggest upgrade is the skinny slouch. I know I trashed a pair of skinny slouch before, but these are the perfect skinny slouch. They have a roomy thigh and slightly skinniest bottom.This may sound like complete opposites, but it really works and guys with thicker thighs can wear skinny jeans comfortably. The best part 2 pairs of jeans for $59 or $55, depending on the fit.
#2 – Nudie Jeans Co.
Please, I beg you to find me a pair of Nudie Jeans that aren’t amazing. Nudie Jeans is a known jean brand, but I feel like people don’t give them the respect they deserve. You can name off some of the top denim brands and if you were to mention Nudie, you might get some blank stares. Nudie lives within people who know great denim, but most people would walk right past it onto a known brand. These jeans also run the fit gambit. They range from the skinniest possible jeans to loose tapered fit. The denim color and the stitching are always sharp and compliment each other. I have the Slim Jim which is labeled as a slim fit, but is a little more like a skinny jean. Let’s get out there and campaign for Nudie Jeans Co.
#1 WeSC
I have talked about WeSC multiple times and people still don’t get it. They see the price tag and pass them up. The jeans are well worth the money if more people would try them on. Also they are the softest jeans I have ever experienced. They are thinner and crisper then most brands that cost 3x as much. WeSC doesn’t have the largest fit category, but they have the primary fits; the fits that people wear the most. WeSC is still rising, so people are just getting their first taste and I will give it another year before people really get hyped about the jeans.
Each brand I have talked about are all quality brands, but people are looking for the cheapest not the best. The problem is most people end up spending more because the cheap jeans wear out and fade much faster. People need to learn that quality is much better, in the long run, than price. Yes you can buy $20 jeans, but you going to get $20 jean quality and fit. Spend the extra money and don’t hit the buffet that week; your jeans will fit a lot better.
What happens when you combine a Air Jordan 6 and 17? You get the most beautiful creation, combining old school and new school. The new Jordan hybrids have all been some of the nicest looking shoes in the basketball game and the 6-17-23, that’s really the name, is leading the pack right now. Despite the name, the shoe is sporty and elegant. I especially love the music notes on the tongue and the colors work so well together. It’s times like these when I see hope for the future of the Jordan Brand. Just like hybrid cars are the future of automobiles, hybrid shoes are the future of the shoe game.
Everyone is in to hybrids these days and the Jordan Prime 5 is no exception. The Prime 5 is a mix between the Air Jordan’s 1 and 5, respectfully. The Grape-Ice color is my favorite and unlike most purple this one is neither hideous or annoying. I am on the lookout for my next purchase and I definitely want to start picking up Jordan’s. I think this one is a good starting off point even if it’s not a regular Air Jordan. The Prime’s come in many other colors if purple is not your thing. I love the 3M style tongue and the signature lace lock. Just look how great they look with dark denim; they seem like they were built for dark jeans.
