Spotlight: adidas Originals Running Shoes

The adidas Originals started as a way for younger people to experience the popular shoes of the 70’s and 80’s.  It’s also a way to display their history in actual form and not just pictures.  People, like myself, crave what we once had and love to cherish past innovations.  It’s no surprise that I love vintage shoes but, I really have a thing for vintage running shoes.  I think one of the big reasons I have a thing for vintage shoes, is that when these shoes came out I didn’t have the money to buy the shoes.  So now I am making up for lost time and I can afford to purchase most of these lost souls.  Check out the rest of the story after the break.

Nike Air Pegasus 83' SI

83 4

A vintage running shoe, yes please. The Air Pegasus 83 is a great looking vintage shoe, especially in the concord grape and wolf grey colorway.  It looks like a combination of the Cortez and Waffle shoes. This shoe the reason I have a love for vintage running shoes. These are available at Caliroots right now. What do you think of the Air Pegasus 83? The rest of the pics right after the break.

Get ready for the Fall and more retro running shoes.  New Balance has just released a preview for the 998, which is being released in Fall 2011.  I really like the look of this shoe; it’s definitely drawing inspiration from the 90’s style.  What do you think of the 998?  The rest of the pics after the break.

adidas Originals Micropacer Gore-Tex

cover
The shoe of the future is here.  adidas is well known for combining computers and running shoes.  The Micropacer is a adidas running shoe with a digital display on the shoe’s tongue. This particular shoe  is also equipped with Gore-Tex; so that means durability, water resistance and a shoe that breathes well. Look for the Micropacer Gore-Tex in March at select stores. What do you think of the Micropacer Gore-Tex? The rest of the pics after the break.

Top 5–New Balance Retros

New Balance has been a part of my life since my childhood.  They were my first pair of running shoes and my dad made me wear them, even though I wanted Nike. I later on began to grow and appreciate what New Balance had to offer.  They offer quality, durability and comfort; everything you want in a great running shoe. Check out the Top 5 and see if your favorite made the list, right after the break.

Have I told you before I like Nike running shoes from the 90’s?  The Nike Air Pegasus 92 is one of the reason’s.  I love the black matte/silver/sangria colorway.  This is just a simple, great looking shoe; a little bit of suede and mesh wrapped up in retro running shoe. J. Crew x New Balance 1400

cover

J. Crew is known for collaborating with a plethora of brands.  I have experienced their collaboration with Levi’s and it was a smash hit.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about New Balance’s collab, because sometimes shoe collabs can go wrong. Not in this case.  The newest crop of New Balance 1400’s have hit J. Crew and they are perfect for that store.  The 1400 is a straight forward, no frills retro shoe; which goes great with Americana style.  It’s not as bulky as the 574, but maintains that retro feel.  They come in 5 colors; raw steel, pine green, navy, black and rustic orange. So far my favorite is the raw steel and black. What do you think of the J. Crew x New Balance collaboration?  The rest of the pics after the break.

New Balance F/W 2011 ML574 Preview

ML574 2
Bring on the retro shoes.  My favorite New Balance, the 574, is getting the hologram treatment. Well just on the tongue but it looks awesome.  Three new styles of 574 have been spotted and we got the preview shots for their fall/winter release. They come in 3 different colors; green/beige, black and blue/grey. Which is you favorite new color of the 574?  Check out the detailed pics after the break.

Nike Lunarmax+ Vortex

lunarmax vortex 4

The Lunar Series is the newest Nike running sensation.  I purchased the Lunarglides last year and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Now Nike has stepped up their game by adding an airbag to the lunar sole mix.  The first colorway to pop up was the varsity purple and black, but it wasn’t until the dark grey and volt that I really got interested.  Also these have been constructed with a hidden seam, part of Nike’s new design standards. I think I have found my newest running shoe.  What do you think of the Lunarmax+ Vortex? More detailed pics after the break.

Nike Air Vengeance Plus

I should have posted this weeks ago, as soon as these popped up on Nike.com.  I was trying to figure out the next shoe to add to my arsenal. Let’s welcome the Nike Air Vengeance in Dark Grey/Varsity Purple-Black-Wolf Grey colorway.  I know this shoe just arrived at 21 Mercer, but it has been at the Nike Store since the beginning of January. I having been eyeing this one for a while and now it’s time to pull the trigger.  When I do get the shoe expect more details on fit and how the shoe feels in person. What do you think of the Air Vengeance?  More detailed pics after the break.

Bodega x Saucony Elite 2011 Spring Preview

jazz 2

Bodega has added a smorgasbord of new Saucony Elite’s to their store and webstore.  The Saucony Elite was designed for small Japanese retailers made of the finest leather, suede and nylon. There are four new colorways of the Shadow 6000 and one the Jazz ‘91. These shoes look amazing. They simple colorways, but they look incredibly high class. The shoes are limited to 300 pairs per colorway and are only sold at Bodega, online and in store. What do you think of the Saucony Elite line? Which pair is your favorite? Check out the full pics after the break.

Sneak Peak: 2011 Nike Air Max 2011

2011 3

This is one of the most highly anticipated shoes of 2011.  Last year’s redesign was an amazing looking shoe, but this year’s is looking epic. Gone is the massive patch of flywire and has been replaced with a net of support.  I can’t wait until these finally drop on February 9th. More pics after the break.

It’s Trash Day–K- Swiss Tubes Run 100

k swiss tube 2

It’s Friday, time to take out the trash.  I blame Reebok for this travesty.  It seems like every shoes company is trying to find the latest running shoe fad. The Reebok Zig, New Balance Zip and now the K-Swiss Tube.  What do they have in common, besides horrible names, they tried using gimmick technology and failed miserably. Let’s take a look at the travesty that is the K-Swiss Tube. More after the break.

Nike Sportswear x Steven Alan

Lava 2

My first thought, when I saw these shoes was wow, what an awesome collaboration.  My second thought was, who the heck is Steven Alan.  I thought I knew all the main players in men’s fashion.  I was blown away when I went to the website.  The clothes were preppy, but not pretentious.  Their collab with Nike is nothing short of amazing.  They have collaborated on 4 shoes; the Magna, Lava, Talache Low and Zoom Toki.  They are each different in their own special way.  The Lava has  a more running shoe feel, the Toki looks like a Chukka, the Magna is a hiking style shoe and the Talache Low is a more casual university style shoe. The shoes all drop in the stores and online on January 21. What do you think of the Steven Alan Collaboration?  Which is your favorite shoe?  Check out the rest of the pics after the break.

adidas Questar Reflective

questar 4

The 80’s running shoe is coming back in a big way.  With Nike releasing their all there new vintage running shoes and New Balance releasing all their retro running shoes; I don’t blame adidas for throwing their hat in the ring.  The Questar is a great hat to be throwing into the ring.  Most people  would run when the hear the colors are red, yellow and blue, but they really work well with this shoe.  Check it out for yourself if you don’t believe.  What do you think of the Questar? More Pics after the break.

New Balance 574–Navy/White/Grey

*New Colorway*

navy 4

I love the 574! I think it’s the best of the retro styled New Balance shoes.  NB has just released a brand new colorway and it’s awesome.  Who would have thought that Navy, Grey and White could look so good together?  What do you all think of the new colorway?  More pics after the break.
