It’s Friday, time to take out the trash. What happened to these shoes? Somebody went a little crazy with the sequins. I know that everyone is designing crazy shoes lately, but those shoes at least look good. This shoe looks like someone’s bad attempt with customizing a shoe. It’s not really just the sequins that I have a problem with; it’s how crappy the sequin pattern looks. Read the rest of the story after the break, including more pics.
This is the perfect shoe for Michael Jackson, it would have gone perfect with the sequin glove and zipper jacket. There doesn’t seem to be any order to to the pattern. It looks like the person got a sequin applicator for Christmas and started applying sequins, but never stopped. Why ruin a classic like the Vans Sk8 Hi? I guessing because it has the most amount of flat square footage. Who did they design to wear this shoe? You can’t wear it skateboarding. Even the most hardcore skateboarders would get harassed if they wore this shoe. Even if you decided to wear these the moment you started doing tricks the sequins would be instantly rubbed off and you would be left with bald spots.
I have to believe that the designer was just trying to push the envelope of shoe design or maybe they just wanted to see if anyone would really buy a shoe this crazy. I guess the real jokes on use, because this shoe is getting major coverage from every shoe and fashion blog around the world. Including my blog, even though I am trashing the shoe right now. Whatever the reason this shoe does not need to be made or worn. We don’t need a shoe to pay tribute to the worst era in history, disco. Hands down, this era produced some of the worst music and clothes; so maybe this is the perfect shoe for that era. The one silver lining, in this story, is that it may never be sold on American soil. We will only have to deal with seeing pictures for another month or so; at least until the hype dies down. What do you think of the Van Sk8 Hi Disco Pack?
